From Patrick Farber’s – Holiday Alert – December 2010

The holidays are a time when we all feel more generous and committed to helping others. Many of us have that spirit of giving throughout the year. One example is Palm Desert, California attorney Steven Weinberg. Since 2006, Steve and his wife have been volunteering around the country, building Habitat for Humanity homes. Their first effort was helping to build a home in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina. For someone who didn’t want to go near power tools or to pound shingles on roofs when he first volunteered, Steve is now an expert at both.

Habitat for Humanity homes are being built all over the U.S. and the world. Every community has its own Habitat affiliate.

As Steve says, you don’t have to go across the country or the world to find families in need safe and affordable housing.

To learn more about the organization (founded by President Jimmy Carter) and to find a local building project near you, go to http://www.habitat.org/.

Here’s wishing you a safe and happy holiday season and a successful 2011.

Do you know of a person who gives of their time to a nonprofit organization? Send us their info and we’ll mention them in an upcoming email.
